Attending PantheaCon

At the end of this week, I’ll be driving down to San Jose to attend PantheaCon. More specifically, I’ll be promoting my work in Women’s Voices in Magic and the writing/editing I do with Immanion Press/Megalithica. This is my first time attending this convention and I’m looking forward to meeting people and promoting my spirituality. If you’re attending PantheaCon, look me up. I’d love to chat and get together.

Click the Read More button to view the date/time/locations of the two panels I’m on.

In the Studio

Kender spent some time in his studio yesterday. He’s been rather melodious lately and it’s been great to hear what’s been rolling around in his head. The new tune was great but he really wanted to add vocals. So, I turn to him and told him the words that the song sorta kicked up in my head. He tried to run with it but it didn’t sound right.

Instead, I told him to let me give it a shot. So, we recorded a bunch of snippets of me singing and the result is “Make Me Bleed”. Go listen and be gentle please. This is my first attempt at singing since womens’ choir in college.

Good Advice from R.A. Salvatore

Kender’s read more Salvatore than I have; he was recently interviewed by the Willamette Week. I read the interview and really liked what he had to say about writer’s block and writing (click “read more” to see the passage I liked best). These are things I should try and remember when I’m in my own writing funks.

Kender Made an Album

For the longest time kender’s been making music. He was inspired by a video segment that Ronin Harris (of VNV Nation fame) made that discussed how he wrote and made his own music. Today, I’m proud to announce that he’s cut and released his first album, Committed, under the group name Transistor Generation.

I’m very proud of him and the album is awesome. It combines many different styles from industrial beats (of course) to more traditional and ethereal soundscapes. So far everyone who’s listened to it compares his tunes to that of groups in widespread genres. Go check it out, donate a few bucks our way and download the album to your hard drive and listen to the experience for yourself.

I can’t believe I just did that…

Amazon.com makes it really easy for you to create tons of new wishlists. Over the past months, I’ve accidentally created several new lists while thinking I was telling their system to just display my one and only wishlist. Today I decided to delete those empty lists (I like running a clean social network).

Well, I thought I clicked on the first of 3 empty lists… and then… realized to my horror… that the first thing that got deleted was my SIX FREEKING PAGE amazon wishlist that I had since 2000 or so. Everything gone. Never to return.

Needless to say, I now have a clean slate to fill. Anyone got any pagan, tarot, paper arts, young adult, fantasy/scifi, or horror books, DVDs, or industrial/techno CDs you’d like to recommend? Comment away and I’ll link them up to my new “Massiv Wish List”. This is your chance to help influence my book habit in 2009.

Squee…Geek Lurve

Kender traded in his remaining 2008 vacation hours for cash. We decided to use that money to fuel my geek by getting me a new Macbook. It’s been 3 years since my last computer purchase. On the scale of things, I’m ahead of the curve. The money hit our bank account today. While I’d LOVE to go to The Mac Store right now and pick up Smudge’s new body, I’m busy today. Kender offered to let me go alone but I know he wants to be there to see me bounce and SQUEE and huggy box. So tomorrow, I get a shiny Macbook. Yaaaaaaaay!!1!1111!11BBQ.

I’m now looking for a new home for my current black Macbook. In chatting with some friends, I decided to include this selling point:

System used by “semi-famous” author to write story published in anthology with Neil Gaiman.

Get Down with the Sickness

Ugh. Been, literally, sick all week. Something crawled into my chest Sunday and for the past five days, I’ve felt as if I were drowning in my body. Having Chest Plague(tm) really sucks. Been alternating between thinking that “breathing is hard, let’s go to sleep” and “being alive is hard, let’s go to sleep”. As such, the bed’s been my primary residence this whole week.

I dislike getting sick. Most of the time, when I do feel a cold coming on, I zap it pretty quickly. As an asthmatic, it’s Really Not Good(tm) to let something into the chest. It’s like getting dumped in the ocean and being forced to tread water. Plague’s not only zapped my energy but stolen my smart brain cells as well.

Today is the first day where, despite coughing and zapped energy, that I feel normal. So I’m going to slowly reintegrate myself back into human society. I’ll try not to over do it though, as I can still barely wander around without my chest wanting to spew a lung.

Ugh. My week in review after the cut…

It’s been a good day

I had a great day today. Really. Lots of good stuph going on. Spent this morning writing finishing up my review of Tagging. Then I continued copy-editing a manuscript Taylor sent to me to look over for Immanion. Lunch was uneventful…

I saw a sign

Driving home from a magical group meeting on Friday I saw the strangest thing in the sky. A streak of green, then a speckled trail of gold entered the top right corner of my windshield. It seemed to come out of nowhere and lasted a few seconds. It was gone almost as quickly as it flickered into view.

I thought it to be the strangest single firework display I had ever seen. Then I mentioned it to kender (who got home around 11:30 from snowboarding) and he told me it was a comet. A google search later, I discovered that it may have been Comet Lulin, which had been passing by Earth during that time. I’m glad I saw it.
