A few weeks ago, my good friend Anna and I decided to “do something together.” We weren’t sure what we wanted to do, so we brainstormed ideas. We listed things that we wanted to do (writing, design, divination arts, creative arts, writing) and from that list we brainstormed a few workshop ideas.

I’d like to present the first of our collaborations: Wine Inspired Writing. This course was inspired by Michael Gelb’s Wine Drinking for Inspired Thinking. We explore the idea that wine can help inspire your muse and have designed some fun exercises to explore this connection! Click the read more link to learn more about what this workshop offers.

Is it true that the principles of drinking and enjoying wine can help you become more creative?

Find out in this special class where Anna and Jaymi teach you the basics of wine tasting and how moderate drinking can inspire your muse. In this class you’ll sample 2-3 wines, while learning how to engage your senses in your writing and develop characters using the TIPPSY method.

I’ve been taking a “Publishing and Marketing Your Book” class, put on by my friend Taylor Ellwood. I’ve been learning quite a bit; many of the tips… so simple yet were nothing I thought about applying to my own marketing. (Like using this journal more.)

One of the things Taylor’s had us all do, is write a query letter, bio, and chapter-by-chapter synopsis of the work we’re trying to publish. I’m using the rough draft of my novel, Touched (Working Title), for this class. I’ve never written a query letter for anything, let along a novel, and have been getting good, solid feedback from Taylor on what things I’ve included.

Today I got the official, “thumbs up,” on my latest effort. He thinks I may be at the point where I can start using the package to start farming out the novel. Yay! Go me. I’m excited. Now if only I had a manuscript worthy of my query letter.
